Happy Holidays from Silent Haven! Giveaway! 4,000+ Followers! 3 Year Anniversary! Official Silent Haven Website!

It has been 3 years! Wow. Its amazing how far this site has come with over 4,000 followers and over 150,000 views! It really makes me realize what a vast community Silent Hill has and reminds me why I started blogging on here in the first place. So many dedicated fans and so many loyal followers I have. So I want to reward you guys with gifts this holiday season by hosting a Silent Hill: Past Life/Menton3 giveaway! Yes all 4 issues of Past Life Very Good to Like New condition and a brand new copy of Saltillo’s latest album “Monocyte”.

For anyone who doesnt know Silent Hill: Past Life is the most recent Silent Hill comic, taking place in the mid 19th century making it the oldest story to be told in the town of Silent Hill. The story follows a violent outlaw and his pregnant wife who move from the west to settle in the native peaceful town of Silent Hill, however they soon realize that nothing peaceful comes out of their new found dream home and discover that in Silent Hill some things in the past dont always remain in the past.  Past Life features a story written by Tom Walts, who also wrote the previous comic, “Silent Hill: Sinners Reward” and also contributed to the writing behind Silent Hill: Downpour.

Past Life also features illustration work from Menton3, an amazing artist behind some fantastic graphic novels. He is also a multi-talented musician and is the sole musician behind the moniker “Saltillo”. Saltillo has released two albums, the first being Ganglion and the second being Monocyte. Saltillo is one of if not my favorite industrial, trip-hop instrumental artists that I enjoy listening to over and over again. Menton3 is also one of my all time favorite oil painters who also plays cello, viola, Banjo, violin, guitar, drums, piano, and bass as well as a slew of electronic synths on Saltillo’s albums. Monocyte is an amazing concept album that coincides as a soundtrack to his graphic novel of the same title. The album takes you on a dark, intense, atmospheric and emotional journey with some songs featuring a male narration and female vocals heard on his previous record. Saltillo is just an all around amazing artist who is multitalented and Monocyte’s atmospheric and heavy beat backed with weeping violins only leaves me wanting more. The album really has a very creepy atmospheric ambiance to it and works well as even a soundtrack to his Past Life comics! So listen while you read!

To enter giveaway just complete at least one of the steps in the raffle widget below and your name will be entered. Wink Worthy Lashes

Between events, galas, openings and celebrations, Capitol ladies must be on high alert when it comes to keeping their style up to par. Wardrobe aside, there is one detail that should never to be overlooked or under-indulged: Eyelashes.

Follow the steps below and you’ll be on your way to decadent faux lashes-

  1. Begin with your eyes and lashes au natural.
  2. Choose lashes for your mood and your style! Go extravagant like Effie’s bird-lashes, or stay simple with small embellishments on the tips (see example).
  3. Trim the insides of the faux lashes to perfectly fit the horizon of your eye lid. If eyelids are receding, proceed with caution and trim away the misshapen skin.
  4. Less is NEVER more — coat the lash with plenty of adhesive, and apply as close to your eyelash line as possible, placing from the outside-in. Gently press the lashes together, blending the faux ones with your natural lash.  (NOTE: If you no longer have natural lashes due to extensive fake lash adhesion, follow former follicle indentations as a guide!)
  5. You’re going to want to run and show these off…but don’t forget to do the other eye!
  6. Be seen, and flutter those feathers with confidence…
  7. When you’re home from a night of flirting & batting your beautiful lashes, remove them with copious amounts of lash stripper and acetone (burning should subside in 7-10 hours), then toss those old falsies away — Never get caught wearing the same lashes twice! #CapitolFail #BeautyIsPain

Tress to Impress – a Capitol Couture Guide to Wigs

Inspired by Effie Trinket’s endless supply of perfect coiffures, Capitol Couture presents a guide to choosing the right wig. Forget those drab locks you were born with and get fab with these simple steps!

1. Face Shapes (Fig. 1)

a. Oval — The most common face shape. Common is boring. Look for elaborate wigs that can distract from this lackluster ordinariness.

b. Square — An unfortunately masculine shape requires a wig that will break up those harsh lines.  You want people to know you’re a woman, don’t you? Unless, of course, you are a man.

c. Round — You may want to consider facial modification to correct this deformity. (See our upcoming issue for a list of Capitol Couture-recommended enhancement surgeons.)

d. Long — Saddle this equine face shape with volume and width to give yourself a more curved, feminine appearance. (However, if equestrian fashion is back in style, procure a mane-like wig and flaunt that elongated visage!)

e. Heart — Disguise a cumbersome forehead by hiding it altogether. With a curtain of heavy bangs, no one will ever know.

f. Triangle — A pointed chin of such misshape can make people uncomfortable, especially around food.  Consider facial modification to correct this.

2. Fibers (Fig. 2)

Remember: If it wasn’t grown on someone’s head, you don’t want it on yours.  Locks farmed from District 7 tend to be the most lustrous of all, so look for the Capitol seal of authenticity.

3. Hairline

It’s always best to leave important matters like wig sizing to the professionals. Visit a registered hairline specialist to ensure the perfect fit!

4. Styling

An elaborate hairstyle can draw eyes away from repulsive face shapes and other uncorrected abnormalities.  Intricate forms can turn an unmemorable head into something worthy of being seen.  Think of your face as a pedestal, your wig a sculpted work of art.

5. Care

Like any precious object, your wig must be cared for with diligence and respect.  Using cheap styling and cleansing products can be disastrous to your wig’s lifespan.  Treat your wig like a living thing, only better!  (Note: True Capitol fashionistas will only wear a wig once.)

THE Wedding Dress…Capitol Designers Weigh In
The verdict is in on Katniss Everdeen’s wedding dress—our girl on fire will be one sizzling bride!
We’ve spoken to some of the Capitol’s brightest designing lights and here’s what they had to say about the dress YOU helped choose:
“Absolutely brilliant,” said Struve Duncain. “A high-fashion explosion.”
“Magic is real,” said Delphi Rollo, “and Katniss is wearing it.”
Briar Vipointe had even more effusive praise. “It’s full of such cosmopolitan elegance,” he said.  “A poem made of fabric.”
But Leda Nix perhaps summed it up best: “The dress has a transformative beauty that will never be matched.  It’s like witnessing the gilded shimmer of a dying star.”
